We are a leading manufacturer of a comprehensive range of piping systems, with a strong presence in Malaysia. Recognized as a sustainable player in our area of expertise and having grown dynamically into several plants with over 700 employees in 50 years, we are looking to welcome on board a Cost Accountant to be part of our core team to take on the key finance support and transformation role.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Partnering: Collaborate with business units, operations, and supply chain teams by
providing accurate financial insights for management of inventories and manufacturing cost related matters.
Costing System Development: Work extensively with the procurement and production team in handling product costing to develop standard cost models, maintain periodic cost revision exercises, and ensure accuracy in the Bill of Materials (BOMs).
Coordinate with ERP consultants for costing system issues, maintenance related to production, purchasing, and other areas.
Cost Accounting Analysis: Periodic review and analysis of production and price variance to ensure effective cost control.
Analyze cost accounting data and be responsible for physical inventories, including treatment, movement, and transactions.
Month-End Closing: Responsible for month-end closing activities, including preparing necessary journal entries, analyzing inventory valuation, variances, and accruals.
Gross Margin Analysis: Prepare and report periodic gross margin analysis by business line and product.
Fixed and Variable Costs: Review and analyze fixed and variable cost reports, provide commentary on cost behavior patterns, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Internal Controls, Compliance and Treasury: Maintain internal control documentation, provide government and statistic reports, assist in annual audit and tax reporting.
Provide support to the Treasury as relates to planning and forecasting activities.
Business Process Improvement: Embrace the ERP implementation to leverage capabilities and identify areas for process improvement within manufacturing operations.
Implement practices to optimize workflows and make necessary adjustments to the ERP system to align with evolving business needs.
Ad hoc Assignments: Other ad hoc tasks/responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications:
This successful candidate must be able to perform the essential duty independently and collaborate significantly with Team Lead to achieve the company’s goals.
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or CIMB/ACCA equivalent.
At least 7 years relevant working experience with a minimum of 3 years in manufacturing costing and a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and Bill of Materials (BOM).
Proficiency in ERP systems and experience in project management.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
